How to take your Tee From Tomboy to Girly Girl

Hey everyone! I am lovin' the feedback from Monday's post and am continuing with my T-shirt challenge to take it to the next level. Today's post features the cutest baseball tee and I have styled it two ways to show you ladies how you can "girl" it up! This is another shirt that I felt was not totally "my style," however I paired it with some of my most favorite whimsical pieces to make it ever-so fanciful.

Lately, I've really been digging the look of pairing a tee over a dress... It almost makes the dress look like a skirt. This combination adds a whole new dimension to wearing your casual dress, and allows you to be more creative when trying to mix up your closet. I received this black crochet slip dress from the FP Me Coast to Coast challenge, and practically wear it 6 days a week (no joke)... Hence, why I'm always trying to be inventive and wear it different ways. This baseball tee was an excellent solution to change it up a bit!

For the second look, I of course, could not resist the temptation to pair the tee with some of my favorite bell bottoms from Brandy Melville. Brandy, you've done it again! I receive so many dang compliments on these pantalones, not to mention they are super soft and feel like suede. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did putting it all together, full outfit details listed below, and have a fabulous day! xoxo

Taking your Fave T-Shirt from Day to Night

This week I am going to try something different. I generally have a hard time finding tops that I like. When I am out shopping, I am drawn to dresses, maxi skirts, and patterned pants (bell bottoms of course)... therefore rarely find a top, and say to myself, "Man, I have to have this blouse!" So generally, I end up buying pretty basic tee shirts and tops (very lackluster, I know). I feel like I have been in a rut lately and blaming myself for owning such boring tops! Instead of wallowing in self pity and despair (wah wah wahhh), I made a challenge for myself this week to take my Tee's to the next level and style them different ways. I must say, I am proud of the results, and hope you can learn a thing or two about having fun with your plain tanks and/or graphic T-Shirts.

For this post, I have taken a favorite T-Shirt of mine from Brandy Melville. It has a faded skull on it, which is totes cool. I bought it on a whim, and when I got home, I was like, "What were you thinking, Sara?! This isn't your style at all!" So, instead of leaving the tags on and shoving it to the back of my closet like I normally would, I accepted this week's challenge of breaking out of my comfort zone with T-Shirts. This shirt inspired me to make a look for the day and one for the night. The day look is super sweet and the lace skirt completely balances the masculine/edgy vibe of the Tee. Of course, the night look would be perfect to wear to a concert or to a night of going to bars.

Well, that's enough of my blabbing... The following post this week will be about another Tee of mine so stay tuned, Stylistas! Full outfit details are listed below, have a lovely day! xox

Outfits of the Week #2

Hey Everyone! This week was quite the challenge for me since my photographer was out on business in New York till Friday. I hate asking the other loved ones in my life to take pictures for me... Because (1) it is kind of awkward, and (2) I am really bossy and particular when it comes to my pictures. Poor boyfriend, he puts up with a lot! My sister graciously helped me out this week so here's my outfits for the week complete with a few trends.

Trends this week:
1. Ivories and soft neutrals
2. Wavy, laid back hair
3. Casual separates
4. Mixing feminine and masculine pieces together

Ps. Look Number two didn't make the cut for my Instagram, but I thought it was funny. I was NOT having a very photogenic day! Love you all, have a great week. xoxo

Free People Me From Coast to Coast

Hello loves! This post is completely delayed because I've been so busy the past couple days (working nights and trying to get my sleep cycle regulated, etc.) that I totes forgot to share my experience with Free People and the Coast to Coast Feature on their blog (super exciting!). In case you haven't seen it click here. I'm sure you all have guessed that I am completely obsessed with Free People, not just their unique clothing, but love their vision altogether.

There were eleven girls involved in the feature, five from East Coast and six from the West. We were given three basic clothing items: a white tee, a pair of jeans, and a slip dress. With each piece, we styled and created three outfits ourselves.

I had an amazing experience and had the opportunity to meet some amazing women. My photo shoot was with Kiki, who is another FP Me gal, and we had a blast snapping pictures in Venice Beach at sunset (I mean, it doesn't get anymore West Coast than that!). For one, Kiki is completely gorgeous, and second, she has a beautiful spirit. We became fast friends, with one common underlying denominator... We love FP! I felt so embraced by the FP Me community and am so grateful to have been granted the opportunity to connect with like-minded, strong ladies.

Be sure to check it out, and of course being born and bred in SoCal, I think West Coast killed it. However, after seeing the feature, I have a major case of wanderlust and am craving to hop on a plane to New York (especially since my man is there on business this week)!  Below are a couple of my photos, captured by the ever-so wonderful Chrissy Piper... There are more on their blog, as well as some outtakes here.

  2. Light Layers
  3. Headbands and Round Sunglasses

Ps. I love Free People's "Bare a Bit More" trend this week ;)

Happy Sunday xoxo

Headbandz for Dayz

Currently, I am still obsessing over this Aztec print turban from Monroe and Harlow. I love small businesses and think we should all support them as much as possible. Their headbands are great quality with lots of heart and soul poured into each piece. I've been wearing my headbands to work, yoga, and out on the town. If you have a little girl to spoil, they make THE most adorable headbands for the tiniest of customers... It gives me Baby Fever (well... Not really). Full outfit details are listed below, and make sure to go to their website to see all of their different designs!

Monroe and Harlow

Where did the weekend go? I spent the weekend in Solvang with my boyfriend and his parents. It is the cutest little sleepy town and I guiltily stuffed my face with Danish pastries and wine for two days. If one ventures up there, make sure to drive into Los Olivos (about an 8 minute journey) to check out the shops, wineries, and cafes there as well. The rolling hills with the oak trees are so inspiring and left me with a feeling of wonder.

Thank you so much to Monroe and Harlow for sending me some amazing headbands to make my wine tasting ever so stylish. The headbands are handmade, extremely soft, and have the most fabulous prints. Not to mention, they are affordable for the smart shoppers out there. I decided to wear it with a feminine, lacy sweater over the best voile slip from Free People for an extra whimsical look. Full outfit details are listed below, and have a beautiful day!

Seventies Vibes

This is my first post of twenty-fourteen with my new website layout and logo designed by my favorite brother-in-law. It is so much more my style and absolutely LOVE it... I have a few kinks to work out with the website design, but it will get there. Sometimes I feel like I am writing to an empty space and therefore, was pleasantly surprised when I received emails the past week for some amazing opportunities I cannot wait to share (I had to pinch myself to ensure this is, in fact, real life). It is definitely keeping me motivated and a reminder to keep on dreaming and think BIG.

Obviously, I still have an unhealthy obsession with bell bottoms and cannot seem to stop. Today's post features Novella Royale bells... again. They are velvety, super soft, and printed with the most funky paisley pattern. What more could I ask for? I've practically been living in these pants, and having fun discovering different ways to style them. I feel quite daring in them, especially when I pair them with a beautiful patterned embroidered top. I love the look of putting different patterns together although it can be nerve-wracking awaiting feedback.

Fashion, in my opinion, is about being true to yourself and wearing whatever your little heart desires. My heart longs for seventies vibes, bell sleeves, and bell bottoms. Speaking of, I've been listening to the oldies radio station in my car the past few days, jamming to The Beatles, ABBA, and the Pointer Sisters (Honestly, who even listens to the radio anymore?!). Stay tuned for exciting posts the next few weeks, full outfit details are listed below, and have a beautiful day!

Ps. Also, don't forget to follow me on my various social networking outlets and I would love to hear from you... Feel free to send me an email.
